MEALS ON WHEELS TURNS "50"

Each year the national leadership organization for Meals on Wheels celebrates the historic day in March 1972 when President Nixon signed into law a measure that amended the Older Americans Act of 1965 to include a national nutrition program for seniors 60 years of age and older. It is now known as Meals on Wheels. This year, 2022, the program turns 50. Meals on Wheels collectively served more than 223 million meals to over 2.4 million seniors prior to the pandemic.

Whitefish Community Center is the provider for the Meals on Wheels program in Whitefish. In 2020 the Center delivered 8,999 hot nutritious meals, assembled and delivered by our all-volunteer team. The Center is pleased to be part of the Meals on Wheels program and looks forward to continuing to deliver meals for many years to come.
