Each year the national leadership organization for Meals on Wheels celebrates the historic day in March 1972 when President Nixon signed into law a measure that amended the Older Americans Act of 1965 to include a national nutrition program for seniors 60 years of age and older. The Community Center’s King and Queen, Jim and Karen Morrell, have been in a whirlwind of activity since accepting that role. Their coronation took place at the Community Center on February 2 with the Winter Carnival Royal Court officiating. The Grand Parade was on February 5 and Jim and Karen were greeted by the crowd with loud and welcoming cheers. The Community Center is honored to have them represent us.
We can never say “thank you” too many times to our volunteers. Every day the Community Center is open, you can find our kitchen volunteers working diligently to assemble the meals for our Meals on Wheels program and the drivers faithfully delivering the meals to the many grateful recipients.
