  • THANK YOU, GREAT FISH!

The 2022 Great Fish Challenge closed on Friday, September 16. The Whitefish Community Center would like to extend a grateful thank you for each and every donation made to us. This year’s donation amount is $26,526.68 , the matching amount from the Whitefish Community Foundation, $12,000, giving us a total of $38,526.68 . The funds raised help the Center maintain and expand our community outreach through the Meals on Wheels program and to increase the senior citizen activities and program growth. The funds are also used to support the operating costs for the Center. We also want to send a sincere thank you to the Whitefish Community Foundation for the amazing and tireless work they do to make this six-week campaign successful for all the participating nonprofits and the support they provide to our community during this annual summer fundraising effort.

  • MEDICARE FOR YOU

The 2023 Medicare Annual Enrollment Period is quickly approaching, and you may be thinking about changes to your Medicare plan. The open enrollment period for changes is October 15–December 7. You must make any changes within this time period. By now, you should have received your annual Notice of Change or Evidence of Coverage, updating you on any changes to the plan you are currently enrolled in. These notices are sent to people who have a Medicare Advantage plan and/or a prescription drug plan. You need to review this notice carefully before deciding if you should make any changes. If you don’t like the changes, you may want to consider enrolling in a different plan for 2023. If you need help reviewing your plan or questions about your notice, call the Flathead County Agency on Aging at (406) 758-5730. They are always very helpful in answering any questions you may have.

  • PLEASE SUPPORT US!

The Great Fish Challenge is still ongoing and, of course, you are crucial to our success. If you appreciate and value the work the Whitefish Community Center (the WCC) does for Meals on Wheels, please help us with this worthy cause by donating through the Great Fish Challenge. In 2021 we delivered over 9,000 meals to individuals just in Whitefish and would love to do even more. The WCC is also a hub of activities that provides health, educational and social enrichment programs for all ages in Whitefish. Remember, when you donate to the WCC through the Great Fish Challenge, a percentage of matching funds will be awarded to participating charitable organizations, including the WCC. This means your donation to the WCC will end up as much more than your actual donation. We welcome and appreciate donations of any amount, large or small, but they must be made through the Whitefish Community Foundation. Indicate that your gift is intended for the WCC. On September 10, the WCC will have a tent set up at Depot Park for the Fun Run and Community Celebration. We will have games for both children and adults. Join in on the fun and stop by our tent! If you have any questions please call the WCC at (406) 862-4923 or come by. And thank you for your support!

  • HELP NEEDED

Our volunteers are the backbone of our Meals on Wheels program here at the Whitefish Community Center (WCC). We depend on each and every one of them and we thank them all. You too can make a difference in the lives of people who rely on the home-delivered meals for both nutrition and a friendly face to check in with them. We are in need of more volunteers and staff to become new members of our team. If you want to make a difference in people’s lives and help the WCC do this important work for our community, please call us at (406) 862-4923. Come join our team!
