Welcome our 2019 King and Queen!

Congratulations to Whitefish Community Center’s 2019 Winter Carnival Sr. King and Queen! Jim and Sandi moved to Happy Valley in November 1999 after Jim was granted a job transfer from a California Safeway. Both continue to enjoy Montana’s changing seasons and variety of outdoor activities.

Sandi worked as a legal assistant for Tom Tornow in Whitefish before taking early retirement at 62. It was then that she discovered Whitefish Community Center, where she was attracted by socialization, friendship and classes. Sandi visits the Center twice weekly for exercise sessions, after which you can find her sitting at the communal table drinking a cup of coffee and nibbling at a pastry.

Jim currently works part-time at Safeway and will soon retire to take on his many projects at home. He has participated in many WCC events and brags about the wonderful lunches available there.

The couple will celebrate their 29th wedding anniversary in July of this year, and a cruise to Alaska is on their bucket list.

Come by WCC to meet Jim and Sandi!

The theme for this year’s Winter Carnival is “Woodstock,” so think music and flower power.

Coronation festivities start at 10:30 am with a meet-and-greet on either January 30 or 31, depending on the desires of the Duchess of Lark. At 11:00, the entire 2019 Winter Carnival Court will arrive to perform the Royal Proclamation and Coronation. You can expect lots of pomp and circumstance. Lunch is at 11:30.

On February 2, we will be part of the Grand Parade in Whitefish, starting at 3:00 pm. We are typically either #6 or #7 in the lineup.
