Dust off your tie dye!

The legendary 1969 Woodstock Music & Art Fair will celebrate its 50th anniversary this coming August 16 through 18 in Watkins Glen, New York. Three main stages will feature more than 60 artists of rock, hip hop, pop and country. A key element of the 50th anniversary festival will be the themes of sustainability and advocacy. Nonprofit and cause-driven organizations will provide screenings, panels and art installations. More information at www.woodstock.com!

Let's make some art!

Our friends from Stumptown Art Studio will be coming to the Whitefish Community Center to coach us through a special art class on Monday, February 11. Starting at 2pm, Heather will take us through the steps to create a Valentine-themed, 8X10 flat canvas project done with multi-media on an acrylic painted background. Cost is $20.00, including all materials. You will leave with a piece of art to display in your home or give away to your valentine. Call 862-4923 to put your name on the list. (Heather needs to know how much to bring in the way of materials.) Don’t miss this fun and productive afternoon event!

Can you hear me now?

Your hearing aids can now be cleaned for free at Whitefish Community Center. This service is offered once a month by the Hearing Aid Institute of Kalispell. This no-cost service will be available on Wednesday, February 13, from 1pm to 2pm. If you miss the February date, they will be here again on March 13, 1pm to 2pm.

Welcome Andy Hamer!

We happily share the news that Andy Hamer is now instructing tai chi at the Community Center on Wednesdays at 10am. Andy moved to Whitefish in the early 1990s and soon came to appreciate the importance of community. Being shy by nature, he was surprised to be greeted openly and warmly by our friendly residents. The support freely offered by the people of this area was the main factor in his decision to stay. He started his training at the Montana Martial Arts Studio on Wisconsin Avenue in 1994 and eventually took up a teaching role when his original instructor retired. He later took over the business, moved to a couple of different locations, and for the last ten years has been at 22 Spokane
